Review of Buckinghamshire CAMHS Eating Disorders Pathway
16th May 2024

After a shaky start due to post Covid waiting list challenges and undiagnosed autism we have been well supported. The staff are professional and caring and the team seams to be growing in size. We were very fortunate to be allocated an excellent clinician who worked tirelessly to support our 15 YO daughter to find reasons to recover from AN from within herself.

Suggested improvements
Clinicians to be reflective about the FBT model and adapt as needed to individual patients. Work with PEACE to build understanding of the co-occurrence of EDs and neurodivergence.

Review of Oxfordshire Childrens Neuro Developmental Pathway (NDC)
16th May 2024

Our medication (ADHD) reviews have been a lifeline since our son started displaying really difficult behaviour- increased frequency (3 monthly) & analysis of behaviour log, contact with school regarding SEND support & EBSA.Way above & beyond & referral to MASH for further support. An absolute lifeline for our family...

Suggested improvements
Initial diagnosis was slow (but I'm aware of stretched resources.) 1st referral (pre-school) denied & finally diagnosed in y.5. Shocked that once ASD & ADHD was diagnosed-would have been sent off with just-report to school, list of support groups & chance of post-diagnostic courses. Only agreement for medication gave us the access to regular contact-in the form of reviews-that has been vital for us.

That is what she said. But nurse Lexi seems to really understand her well.

Suggested improvements
More tailored, patient-led approach. Take on board what parents and patients say about autistic needs.

Having discussed this with my child, this is how they feel.

Not a criticism, because I know resources are limited and you’re doing the best with what you have. But, if you had all the resources in the world, it would be good to have a verbal update each day as to how Trinity has been from the staff. It would have been good to talk through what Trinity was going to experience/ be given when she arrived… although I was away, and I haven’t returned a call, so there’s more I can do too.
